The Soham Men’s Shed invited Lucy Frazer to visit the shed and we were delighted that she accepted.   Lucy visited us at South Angle Farm on the 5th January and spent time chatting to our members and was interested to learn what we are about and the work we do at our shed.

Speaking on behalf of The Soham Men’s Shed, Chairman Howard Laver said “ we are very appreciative of Lucy giving up her valuable  time and believe her visit will help spread the word about all the work we carry out at our shed and indeed The UK Men’s Shed Association. "

The New Building took a big step last week when men from the Soham firm of COLIN MURFITT was on site to lay  the concrete floor FREE OF CHARGE We would like to offer a massive thank you to Colin Mufitt and his team for their generosity in helping a worthwhile cause  where men or women can come and have a chat  tea or coffee and maybe even build or repair things

On Wedneseday 4th October The Men's Shed held our annual AGM at the Venue on the High Street in Soham some excellent food was on offer and a lot of positive ways was discussed in going forward as a group

Saturday 30th September we was at Soham Pumpkin  fair where we put some of the things we have created on display there was a lot of interest in what we do as a group the event was held  at the recreation ground in Soham.  We held a raffle for one of the benches we have made.  The winning number was Green ticket number 176. The draw being made by a member of the organisng committee of the Pumpkin Fair. The bench was delivered  to the winner  who was very happy when she had heard that she had won , She had said that she previously tried when we had another raffle for another bench so was over the moon when we told her she was successful. The funds that we raised will contiinue to help the Men's Shed continue to reach out to the Community  of Soham.  Many thanks to those that brought raffle tickets  even though there can only be one winner of the bench but the funds raised means that the community are winners

Update  on the new build we have laid electric cable underground in protected tubing, we are also in the process of laying cement for the  floor soon, then we will move the structure back onto the cement flooring.  Then we will be able to put the roof on as well as walls, we are really looking forward to completing this project and have extra space for a relaxation area, we have tried to keep the cost to a minimum but the majority of the materials we have used are reclaimed.

WE  CAN NOW BE FOUND ON THE  SOHAM TOWN COUNCIL COMMUNITY WEBSITE

We spent the afternoon at St Andrews Church at their St Felix fair, where we was able to speak to a number of people about who we are and what we do.  We was able to raise some funds by holding a raffle for a bench that we had made, the person who won the bench was very happy when we delivered it the following day. The winning number was 19 which was drawn by the vicar of St  Andrews Church Reverend Eleanor Whalley.
